The Amazing Marae Trip

Marae Trip
Last Thursday the whole nui went to Te poho o Rawiri marae, it was amazing the first thing we did was go to the powhiri. The tangata whenua welcomed us the names of the people that was Papa Albie, Aunty buba and Aunty charlotte. They sang there song then we sang ours. Then it was time to hongi I was one of the first people I wasn't that nervous because I had practiced it, I could see all the boys younger than us were really nervous. Then we went to our activities.

Our groups first activity was weaving flax, I don't think I was that good at weaving but I still liked it. I can't remember the second, third activity was setting out the mattress that was really fun. lunch was OK, Then me and Ziggy got our beds ready, it was hard because it was so loud in the marae, I got a headache from all the noise but I survived. It was time for dinner, it was delicious I loved it.

Our performance was next. I was really nervous but I just had to do it. We sang lots of songs then it was jump jam, it was time for my ukulele and my fingers were really slippery so it made it harder to play tab and I had to go really fast, luckily I only made one mistake but it still made me panic. As I was laying in the sleeping bag, my headache was super duper sore, it felt like my head was going to explode I was awake till one in the morning. The next day we welcomed wai to the marea and did a walk up kaiti hill. I loved the marea it was awesome. I wish we could do it again, but I think the headache made the trip so much worse. I loved the food I loved the activities and I loved the trip. Here is  a photo of me playing the ukulele.

Fathers day!

Fathers Day!
This Sunday it's fathers day, and i'm going to try to make it the best yet, we are righting are a story about all the things we love about our Dad and things we love about our Dad. I love my Dad and we do really fun things together like surf, play video games, go for awesome adventures and walk on the beach. We are also making this cool card and it pops out, we are putting the writing in the cards and it's going to look awesome. My Dad is super duper truper awesome, I love him lots. This is what the card looks like.

Cross Country

Cross Country
Today it was the cross country, it was in the morning next to the beach. Bang! The race was on, it was hard to get up to the front because all the boys were pushing around. Once everybody started trying to keep their places but I was trying to push further. We had to do two laps it was 2.5 kms. Then after my first lap I started to slow down because I have asthma so it was hard to keep up with the person in front of me, when I went past my friends and family they cheered, that made me go a little bit faster. I came tenth overall.

The cross country is always challenging because there is one of the best runners for our year in our town. I loved how on the practises we got fitter, I think it's awesome how we get to run on the sand dunes. It was my last cross country and I try my hardest.

Science Fair 2019

Science Fair
A couple weeks ago, me and my friend Jett made a science fair, it was about paper planes we were trying to see what thickness of paper makes a paper plane fly the farthest. We had lots of different thicknesses of paper like normal A4 paper, card, magazine and newspaper. We had to find a sheltered place that the wind and rain couldn't affect the flight.

Our testing was really fun because Jett measured, I threw and Mum recorded the data. The results were that the thicker the paper was it flew better because it was heavier, it's like throwing a really light ball verse a heavier ball, the heavier ball would go further but it can't be too heavy. Next time I would test how long the plane flew for. It was really fun doing science fair this year and we came third now we get to regionals.

Shared book

Because of Winn-Dixie
Kate Dicamillo

This term our shared book is called Because of Winn-Dixie. It's about a dog and a girl called India Opal, the girl didn't have a Mum, they just moved to a new town and her nickname was Opal. Her Dad told Opal to go get some food from the Winn-Dixie supermarket and there was a dog in there and she said " it's mine ". From then it was her dog and she took care of Winn-Dixie. Opal has lots of friends and most of them are old people.

This book is a good book because it has lots of new words, and there big ones as well. This book is really fun to read because it's funny and it's just awesome.

Term 3

Our term is cool because our inquiry is hauora, it's about our health and physical well being. There are four different things it's taha tinana (physical/health), taha whanau (social), Taha hinengaro (mental/emotional) and taha wairua (spiritual/accepting). last week and this week we have been doing quick writes about hauora. I love this term.

The Short Term 2

Retro Tech

This term was quite short because I was away in America and Fiji.

This term was about retro tech and old gadgets. My buzz group got a thing that looked liked a hair straightener and when I saw it first I thought it was a butcher knife, then I thought it was a hair straightener.

Then when we went to the museum of old technology and Barry ( the owner of the museum) told us that it was a pants seemer. After that we went exploring in the museum.

My favourite room was the military place because there were tanks, old trucks, motorbikes and fun things to play and climb on. There were other rooms like the vehicle room and the old gaming room, in some of the cars there were creepy dolls.

This term has been fun for me. here are some photos!
