Pick a Path Te Reo

In Room 1 we have been learning about pick a paths

We created a slide and made it into a quiz using Te reo Maori instead of english.

It was easy to put the pictures and slides in.

It was challenging to link the slides to each other it started to get really confusing.

Next time I will make sure that I put a little sign in to show me what slide it is so it doesn't get hard.

About Me

We were learning about sharing online profiles. The hardest thing was taking a photo of myself because of the light.

My last Term in WBS

Term 4 has been one of the fun-est, and exiting terms this year. We had kapa haka, school athletics and interschool athletics. Athletics was really fun, I got first and second for the 100
meter and 200 in the heat. In the finals I got a pretty good placing for both 200 meter and 100, I got 3rd. Then it was time for the interschool athletics I step out of the car. My heat was the first race of the day in the heat I came second and in the final I came fifth, so that means i'm one of the fastest year six boy in gisborn.

Kapa haka has been one of the biggest focuses this year. It has been a little bit different this year because kapa haka is normally every two years but we had it last year and this year. I had some much butterflies getting off the bus Wai went first it was really cute because they
made a funny mistake. Then it was a preschool group then it was our turn to do our kapa haka. I think we did pretty good but we went fast on one song.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Term 4 has been so fun. This is the last term ever at Wainui Beach School. I can't wait to go to intermediate, it's quite sad to leave this school but I think i'm going to survive.

Interschools Athletics

Last Wednesday I went to Interschool athletics. I got in for the two hundred meter sprints, I came third for two hundred meter and one hundred meter for the school athletics. I was going in to the one hundred meter for interschools but one hundred was my friends strength, and he's faster than me so they put me into two hundred.

Me Gavin, Ziggy and Taj step out of the car onto the big field with heaps of other schools, and much bigger groups than Wainui. My race was the first race of the day and it just had to be the same time as my sisters race, so my Mum couldn't watch my race. In the first heat,  which was quite hard, I sped across the prickle covered field. I could see a kid sprinting up behind me, a second later that kid was in front of me. Now I was coming second. I crossed the finish line and the lady told me I came second then it was the finals. We didn't even get a rest. I stepped on to the starting line, I was still tired from the heat. The guy said "on you're mask, get set, go!" I sprinted as fast as I could I past like five kids but all the other kids were way too fast to beat. The race was a lot faster this time and a lot harder. I still came fifth.

I am so happy that I got fifth in gisborne for my age, I thought I would be sixth or seventh. Overall our school tied with Mangapapa, we both got first. Athletics is my favorite sport this year.

Kapa Haka 2019

Kapa Haka

Bshhh! We got off the loud bus and lined in our class lines up we were at the showgrounds in Gisborne. We went with nui on a wednesday. Walking into the the huge nerve racking hall my tummy started to rumble, and it made me want to go to the toilet, but I couldn't. I could here the preschool Kapa haka group shaking the ground they and they were only like three or four years old. Then the wai group walked and it was so cool because they started with kids playing the ukulele and it was really funny because some girls made a mistake and everybody started to laugh.

Getting ready for the performance was really boring because we had to wait for a little bit then we got told to walk into the hall I was so scared but I just had to do it so the first two rows walked on, I started smiling straight away, I saw my auntie, She come to New Zealand like every year. She comes from Aussie. The first song we did was Tu mai ra, I think we did pretty good. The second was Hairemai a pawa I think we did it way to fast. The third was Kapioio, it was OK. Fourth was Puiriani Then we did Utaina, that song lead into the haka. The Haka was meanage we did Ka mate and another haka. then we did Wainui e. We did one more song but I forgot.

This Kapa haka was the best and the last for wainui. It was so fun to be perform in front of my family. I bet my family loved it. It was nice to get kapa haka off my shoulders. Now I just need to end the year and i'm at intermediate.

The Amazing Marae Trip

Marae Trip
Last Thursday the whole nui went to Te poho o Rawiri marae, it was amazing the first thing we did was go to the powhiri. The tangata whenua welcomed us the names of the people that was Papa Albie, Aunty buba and Aunty charlotte. They sang there song then we sang ours. Then it was time to hongi I was one of the first people I wasn't that nervous because I had practiced it, I could see all the boys younger than us were really nervous. Then we went to our activities.

Our groups first activity was weaving flax, I don't think I was that good at weaving but I still liked it. I can't remember the second, third activity was setting out the mattress that was really fun. lunch was OK, Then me and Ziggy got our beds ready, it was hard because it was so loud in the marae, I got a headache from all the noise but I survived. It was time for dinner, it was delicious I loved it.

Our performance was next. I was really nervous but I just had to do it. We sang lots of songs then it was jump jam, it was time for my ukulele and my fingers were really slippery so it made it harder to play tab and I had to go really fast, luckily I only made one mistake but it still made me panic. As I was laying in the sleeping bag, my headache was super duper sore, it felt like my head was going to explode I was awake till one in the morning. The next day we welcomed wai to the marea and did a walk up kaiti hill. I loved the marea it was awesome. I wish we could do it again, but I think the headache made the trip so much worse. I loved the food I loved the activities and I loved the trip. Here is  a photo of me playing the ukulele.
